Market closed higher, Stock news, Trading TipsThe benchmark indices surged since positive global stocks boosted sentiment on the domestic exchanges. The P BSE Sensex, rose 448.39 pts or 1.48% to 30,750.03, while the Nifty index rose 149.20 pts or 1.59% to 9,509.75. The Sensex hit its record high in intraday trade, while the Nifty hit its highest intraday mark in more than seven days.

In the broader market, the BSE Mid-Cap rose 1.35%, under-performing the Sensex while the BSE Small-Cap index rose 2.01%, out-performing the Sensex. 1,881 shares rose and 801 shares fell and a total of 147 shares were unchanged.

Stocks of FMCG, capital goods, realty, consumer durables, IT, banking, tech, O&G, auto, PSU and metal were leading the rally.

IOC rose 1.21% to Rs 435.85 after its net profit jumped 85.48% to Rs 3,721 crore on 25.01 percent rise in total income to Rs 1,24,344.64 crore in Q4 March 2017 year on year.

Most capital goods shares advanced. Crompton Greaves went up 5.16%, Havells India rose 4.79% Jindal Saw went up 3.83%, Bharat Electronics rose 3.69 Reliance Defence and Engineering went up 2.50% among many other stocks.
